كتاب أنساب الخيول العراقية العربية الجز السابع

مقدمة كتاب الأنساب الجزء السابع

Preface:

It is with honor and appreciation to its members, and under very difficult circumstances in Iraq. The Iraqi Arabian horse organization (IAHO) publishes its volume No.VII Studbook which is for the horses born between 2003 – 2006. Additional older horses have been included in this studbook that should have been included in volume VI studbook published earlier. But they have been delayed in order to complete their registration under the current rules and regulations of IAHO including the laboratory results. We also would like to make clear that all foals and new registrations have been parents verified by using DNA before being registered.

Horses registration by IAHO follows strict rules which have been approved by WAHO. After birth IAHO will visit the stud to examine the foal and takes the full marking of the new born including its hair in order to be parent verified (using DNA) before being registered. A registered foal has to be born from parents that have been either registered in IAHO studbook or any other international studbook approved by WAHO.

Stolen & Missing Horses

As it will be noticed that the stolen and missing horses mentioned in volume VI studbook were not included in volume VII as was expected earlier. That is because the legal ownership of these horses were not yet resolved , and because of the very difficult circumstances in Iraq which prevent free movement of IAHO staff to track those horses . However their DNA was established in early 2000 and when circumstances permit their registration, they will be re-identified and their foals will have to be parent verified according to the strict registration procedures of IAHO.

Breeding Arabian Stallions

There is a shortage of the availability of registered Arabian stallions in Iraq to the small breeders. Thus, IAHO has requested one of its breeders to make available registered Arabian stallions for small breeders, who can not afford to buy a stallion or have an easy access to one. In these cases there were no pure bred Arabian stallions readily available in the immediate area. Thus, a breeder may have to cover his registered Arabian mare from a Thoroughbred or Anglo-Arab stallions which are more readily available. This of course will then result in the depletion of the pure Arab blood in Iraq, which IAHO is anxious to prevent. These Arabian stallions are now readily available to Arab horse breeders free of charge in IAHO supervised centres in Mosul and Baghdad.

Progeny Listing:

Stallions and broodmares with living progeny included in this studbook, have a section which details all relevant offsprings.

Deceased Horses:

Deceased horses which were registered in volume VI studbook are included in volume VII studbook under a relevant section.

Export & Import:

Horses exported and imported were included in special section. Only two horses were exported to the kingdom of Bahrain. and one of a group of horses imported from Syria was registered. Four horses were imported in utero from France, and proper DNA parentage verification and testing were done before registration.

However, more horses have been imported to Iraq during the last three years but they have not been included in this studbook because their registration procedures were not completed yet. After the completion of these procedures, including satisfactory re-comparison of their DNA types with those taken in the country of origin, they will be registered and appear in the next volume (VIII) studbook.

Finally we would like to express our sincere thanks to the WAHO family and particularly to Dr. Hans Nagel the president of WAHO and Katrina Murray, WAHO Executive Secretary, for her exceptional effort and continuous assistance including a very thorough revision of this studbook.
